Sublimation & Digital Printing Process

We, in partnership with Decoral Systems who pioneered a revolutionary process that originated in 1993, utilize this innovative technique to transform metal surfaces using a method known as sublimation. At the core of this process lies the application of heat-transfer films, imbued with specialized inks, onto powder-coated aluminum sheets, profiles, or 3D objects. By subjecting these materials to temperatures around 200°C, we achieve stunning decorative finishes that authentically replicate natural textures such as Woodgrain, Marble, Corten, and virtually any image imaginable. We also offer digital printing services to further enhance the customization options for our clients. These intricate designs, patterns, and graphics can be directly applied to the metal surfaces, providing limitless creative possibilities. Moreover, our decorated products are made to endure the outdoor elements, ensuring longevity and aesthetic appeal in any environment. Our sublimation process begins with the selection of a metal substrate, predominantly aluminum, and steel, but extendable to other materials capable of withstanding temperatures of 200°C without distortion. Following the selection, a meticulous pre-treatment process is implemented to cleanse and shield the metal surface against corrosion and weathering. This preparatory stage is imperative for ensuring optimal adhesion and longevity of the subsequent powder coating

The next step involves the application of powder coatings using electrostatic guns onto the pre-treated metal substrate. Upon application, the coated material undergoes curing in specialized ovens, adhering to precise temperatures applied by our technicians. The base coat not only enhances the aesthetic appeal but also fortifies the product against harsh environmental elements including weather, corrosion, and abrasion. Our powder coatings are made with eco-friendly polyester or polyurethane resins. They don’t contain any harmful solvents or heavy metals, showing our dedication to protecting the environment. Following the powder coating stage, the object is enveloped with a heat-transfer film adorned with the desired decorative pattern. Subsequently, the wrapped object undergoes vacuum sealing onto the surface before being placed into a Decoral® oven. Within the confines of this specialized oven, the application of heat and pressure facilitates the transfer of inks from the film onto the coating layer, resulting in the integration of the decorative pattern. Upon completion, the film is removed to unveil the final decorative finish.

Our digital printing process varies from sublimation in that it does not involve the heat-transfer film and vacuum sealing steps, but instead, the designs are digitally printed directly onto the coated metal surface. The printed designs are then cured to ensure durability and longevity, providing our clients with a wide range of decorative options to suit their specific needs and preferences.
